Good tile work is quiet. Every size of tile asks for something different. Large porcelain slabs need a very flat wall or floor, because any dip or bump shows up as an edge that sticks out. Small tiles, like penny tiles, need patient, even spacing so the pattern reads as one surface. Marble-look tile needs its veining laid out with care, so the wall looks natural instead of repeated.
