When the plumbing is planned well, you never think about it again: the drain sits exactly where the shower floor slopes, the tub filler comes up where the tub stands and the vanity lines up with its water lines. When it is not, you end up with a cabinet cut around pipes, a slow drain or a leak behind brand-new tile.

That is why our plumbing is done by licensed, fully insured plumbers on our own team, not subcontractors. They work with the rest of the crew, so the pipes are planned around your new layout instead of the layout being forced around old pipes.

The rough-in is the first stage: new drain and water lines run inside the open walls and floor, before anything is closed up. The finishes come at the end: the faucets, the shower head, the toilet and the tub filler, all connected once the tile and vanity are in.

The rough-in matters most, because it decides where everything goes. We plan it from your approved design, so what you saw on paper is what ends up in the room.

A point drain is the classic drain in the middle of the shower floor, with the floor sloping towards it from every side. A linear drain is long and narrow, usually along one wall or at the entrance of the shower, so the floor only has to slope in one direction. That single slope suits large floor tiles and gives a walk-in shower a clean, open look. We install both, and we build the sloped floor to match the drain you choose.

A freestanding tub needs careful planning, because the drain and the water supply have to come up through the floor exactly where the tub will stand. We have replaced a corner tub and an alcove tub with freestanding tubs in Markham and Georgina, installed one beside a double vanity in East Gwillimbury, and here in Newmarket set one beside a wood vanity on a checkerboard floor.

Shower jets add a spa feel to a walk-in shower. They need their own water lines planned at the rough-in stage, so tell us early if you would like them.
