Why lighting makes or breaks a bathroom
Many older bathrooms have a single fixture over the mirror, or one light in the ceiling. It is enough to see by, but it casts shadows on your face at the mirror and leaves the shower dark. Good lighting comes in layers: soft light for the whole room, clear light at the vanity and a warm accent here and there.
We have built showers with lit niches, vanities lit from below and, in East Gwillimbury, a walk-in shower with a long LED-lit niche. Details like these take up no floor space and change the whole mood of the room.
Lighting also changes how big a room feels. A bright, evenly lit bathroom feels larger and cleaner; a dim one feels small, however nice the tile is.
